GNTO to introduce German Specialist Programme in India next year

German National Tourist Office (GNTO) is planning to launch an exclusive website for Indian market soon and will introduce a German Specialist Programme, in Delhi and Mumbai next year. These developments are aimed at engaging the Indian travel trade more actively for the promotion of German destinations. GNTO has also commenced work for an image makeover, from a business to a leisure destination in the Indian market. In order to enhance awareness about the German destinations and tourism products, GNTO will organise few FAM trips for travel trade and the media in the coming months.

“We have plans to organise a director or producer FAM for Bollywood to Germany early next year,” said Romit Theophilus, Director, India, GNTO. The German National Tourist office in India will hold road shows, to introduce regions like Black Forest, Saxony, Leipzig, etc. to Indian travellers, in three cities, namely Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, in the first quarter of 2009. “We are trying to bring on board not less than 20 partners from Germany for these road shows,” added Theophilus. Germany recorded a growth of 33.3 per cent in Indian arrivals in the first four months of 2008.
