Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board starts Chambal River Safari in the state

In order to promote Ecotourism in the state, Madhya Pradesh Ecotourism Development Board (MPEDB) recently started Chambal River Safari in the state. Gopa Pande, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), MPEDB inaugurated the river safari. The project was implemented under the initiative of Commander Nigham, Ecotourism Advisor, MPEDB. The total cost of the project was 70 lakh.

In the Chambal River Safari, tourists will be taken in houseboats provided by the board to see crocodiles, different species of turtles and 72 Gangetic dolphins (dolphins migrated from River Ganga to Chambal) which are preserved by the Department of Forest, Government of Madhya Pradesh. For this purpose the Board has six houseboats. The Board offers three types of river safaris, in terms of distance- five kms, 70 kms etc. The package cost of each safari varies from Rs 500 to Rs 3,000.
