TASK to organize road shows and tourism travel fairs from January, 12, 2009

Travel Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK) in its bid to promote Kashmir as a safe destination in various Indian states is organising a series of road shows and travel fairs starting early next month. “Along with the state’s tourism department, we will promote Kashmir through roads shows, awareness seminars and travel fairs from January, 12, 2009. The first road show/seminar/travel fair will take place in Chennai followed by Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad” informed, Abdul Khaliq Wangnoo, President, (TASK). TravelBiz Monitor had earlier reported (November 15, 2008) about TASK planning to target new markets in India in collaboration with Ministry of Tourism.

Wangnoo further informed TravelBiz Monitor. “Post-state elections in January, we will be more confident about our other plans and projects to boost Kashmir tourism. We can talk about it once we have had a meeting with the new state Tourism Minister.” He also added that TASK will be looking at Tier-II cities like Chandigarh and Nagpur for promotional activities. The down turn in Kashmir tourism business has been because of controversial Amarnath land row followed by global economic recession and Mumbai terror attacks.
