JetLite, Kingfisher, Indigo Airlines reduce fuel surcharge on all domestic routes effective today

JetLite, Kingfisher and IndiGo Airlines have announced a reduction of Rs 400 in passenger fuel surcharges on all domestic routes effective today. This decision came after Praful Patel, Minister, Civil Aviation appealed to all the major airlines to make air travel affordable as fuel prices have come down substantially. The fuel surcharge on the carriers’ domestic sectors up to 750 kms will be Rs 300 to Rs 1,950 which previously stood at Rs 2,250. On sectors over 750 kms , the fuel surcharge will be Rs 200 to Rs 2,700 which previously stood at Rs 2900. This is in response to the recent reduction in domestic fuel prices. Subsequently, travel by Kingfisher Red (formerly Air Deccan) will see a cut of up to Rs 300 on routes up to 750 kms to Rs 1,950 from Rs 2,250 earlier. Flights over 750 kms will see a drop of Rs 200 to Rs 2,700 from Rs 2,900 earlier.

"Effective today, IndiGo has reduced its fuel surcharge to match that of Air India, Jet Airways and JetLite," said Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo. He further added that this was aimed at keeping the promise of affordable fares and passing on the benefits of the recent reduction in Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices to the air travellers.
