India Tourism, Mumbai launches `Explore the Incredible States,' promotional campaign

India Tourism, Mumbai today announced a new promotional initiative named 'Explore the Incredible States.' This special initiative is being taken up by Ministry of Tourism (MoT), Western Region along with the Tourism Development Corporations of various states in the Western and Central region from September 2008 to January 2009. Starting from September 1, 2008 the organisation, in association with Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), will promote Maharashtra for the duration of one month. After promoting Maharashtra, it will promote Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhatisgarh, which are under the jurisdiction of Western and Central region. Each state will be allotted counter space in India Tourism, Mumbai office to disseminate information, market and sell their products and packages to tourists visiting the office.

Providing an insight into the idea behind organising the promotional campaign, Sujata Thakur, Regional Director – Western Region, India Tourism said, “We are going to provide a special focus on each state so that domestic and international tourists get a taste of the various aspects of each state and their offerings. This will not only provide (the states) a platform to showcase their unique offerings but also help them to enhance their tourist numbers.” For the month of September the ambience and whole décor in India Tourism, Mumbai office will represent the uniqueness of Maharashtra. Exclusive art and traditional craft, textiles, dance and music of Maharashtra will be on display during the celebrations.
