Air-India, Air-India Express records high revenue growth from Oman

Air-India and its low cost subsidiary Air-India Express, recorded revenue growth of 45 per cent and 38 per cent respectively in their operations from Oman in 2007-08. Air India Express’s revenue has grown from 2.8 million Omani Riyals (USD 7.3 million) in 2006-07 to 16 million Omani Riyals (USD 10.1 million) in 2007-08. Air-India itself saw its revenue from its Oman operations grow from Omani Riyals 11 million (USD28.6 million) in 2006-07 to Omani Riyals 16 million (USD 41.6 million) in 2007-08.

The passengers carried by Air-India Express on the Muscat-India route increased from 38,914 in 2006-07 to 55,000 in 2007-08. During the same period, the number of passengers carried out of Salalah, increased from 8,075 to 12,250. While the airline flies between Muscat and the Indian cities of Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore, it flies twice a week to Kochi and Kozhikode from Salalah.
