Delhi Travel

Delhi, the political capital of India, has an exuberant collection of cultural heritage bearing testimonies to the reign of different dynasties, both Hindus and Muslims; their struggle for power and authority and terrible wars and revolts faced by the city over the pages of history, dating back to as late as the era of great Hindu epic ‘Mahabharata’. Also identified as ‘Indraprastha’, the city was once the capital of Pandavas.

The city also bears sophisticated trails of a long British rule with its well-planned and aristocratic structures, including the palatial complex of Rashtrapati Bhawan and India Gate adorning the city with their majestic and patriotic value. Some brilliant epitomes of the Mughal era rest at Delhi including the famous Red fort where India’s Independence Day is celebrated religiously and the elegant Qutub Minar, which once used to be the tallest building of the city.

Living in its seventh reincarnation, Delhi has emerged as a mixed bag in terms of populattion comprising of people from all castes, creeds, religions, regions and tastes. The city also boasts of an interesting mix of Old Delhi and New Delhi, which sort of divides the culture of Delhi into hep and traditional. The slow-paced, crowded and narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk is a top priority check out on any tourist’s iterinary of Delhi, for its delectable food, traditional markets and historic value.
